I am also into to crocheting lately and I have to add that to the mix.
But being a good orange lover I managed to combine my love of crocheting and the color orange....Tah Dah!!!

If you see orange in your home only once a year, it's time to give it a second chance.

"Orange is the ultimate anti-depressant," says Jonathan Adler, the potter, decorator and shop owner. "It's the color of sunshine. It's crisp and refreshing. It will always be my go-to color for a jolt of happiness." Adler, whose signature "10 Commandments for a Happy, Chic Home" include "Thou shalt not be afraid of orange," says he pairs it with white, chocolate brown, navy and lemon yellow.

Orange paint has gained popularity in the past few years, says Jackie Jordan, a director at Sherwin-Williams. "Two or three years ago, it was a bright, citrusy orange," she says. "Now we're seeing a little shift to the spicier side, with colors a bit more toned down." The paint company is including a nutmeg shade of orange, Tiger Eye, in its color forecast for 2009.

If you're thinking about painting with orange, it's best to do so in moderation, Jordan says. A muted orange would work well in a powder room, she says, while a brighter shade would be fun for an accent wall in a child's bedroom.

Another option: painting a single piece of furniture for a small yet bold statement.

Or try Adler's approach and add an orange piece as a "punctuation mark" to your decor. "An orange lacquered tray, an orange ceramic bowl or an orange side table can instantly make a space feel hip and alive," he says. "How can you feel sad if you are eating your cereal out of a bright orange bowl?"

The colour orange occurs between red and yellow in the visible spectrum at a wavelength of about 585 – 620 nm, and has a hue of 30° in HSV colour space. The complementary colour of orange is azure, a slightly greenish blue. With pigments such as paints or inks, a mixture of the subtractive primary colours in the proportion of 75% yellow and 25% magenta produce the secondary colour orange. Orange pigments are largely in the ochre or cadmium families, and absorb mostly blue light.

Lovers of Orange (the color not the fruit) Unite!!!

I loooooove the color orange!
I am extremely fond of bright colors in general.
But my absolute favorite color is orange.
I once painted my bedroom orange. I loved it!
Others thought I had a problem.

Unfortunately, like many women, I use black as a background or basic wardrobe color so often times I look like I'm dressed for Halloween!
Good thing I love Halloween!

Anyhoo...this blog is dedicated to the color Orange. Seriously.
There is no telling what I might post but it will definitely have something to do with orange.
I might put up songs or poems or ....oh, anything.
I will definitely be putting up pictures of item that can be purchased in orange or some shade of orange.
I know, I am always on the look out for something fabulous in a shade of orange.
Glasses, dresses, shoes, shirts, hats, nail polish, electronic gadgets, household funishings, etc.
If it's orange, I will at least look at it.

Flamboyant and Energetic :
Orange is vibrant. It's a combination of red and yellow so it shares some common attributes with those colors. It denotes energy, warmth, and the sun. But orange has a bit less intensity or aggression than red, calmed by the cheerfulness of yellow.

Nature of Orange:
As a warm color orange is a stimulant — stimulating the emotions and even the appetite. Orange can be found in nature in the changing leaves of fall, the setting sun, and the skin and meat of citrus fruit.

Culture of Orange:
Orange brings up images of autumn leaves, pumpkins, and (in combination with Black) Halloween. It represents the changing seasons so in that sense it is a color on the edge, the color of change between the heat of summer and the cool of winter.

While orange and black are traditional Halloween colors, orange really pops with a medium blue. Red, yellow, and orange can be a fiery hot combination or, in tamer shades, a fresh, fruity experience. Make it tropical with green.
Use caution mixing orange and pink unless you want to recreate a vibrating, 60s psychedelic look.

Try a dash of orange with deep purple or a dash of purple with a bit of orange, tempered by lots of mellow yellow or white for an eye-catching look that's not overpowering.

These color palettes feature shades of orange going earthy with browns and greens as well as sophisticated with blues, grays, and other neutrals.

Feng Shui Use of the Color Orange:
Feng Shui-wise, Orange represents the Fire element and it is best in the following feng shui Ba-Gua areas: South (Fame & Reputation) and Southwest (Love & Marriage). Avoid a predominant Orange-theme in the feng shui areas of West and Northwest, as they are governed by the Metal element, and Fire melts the Metal in the feng shui cycle of five elements.

The other two feng shui areas to avoid a strong presence of Orange color are East and Southeast, as both are governed by the element of Wood, and Fire burns the Wood in the interplay of five elements.
